Nice photoshoot

Cake have just completed this photoshoot for Vinspired an initiative that sees the charity team with up with top designer Ben De Lisi and T4 presenter Miquita Oliver to call on every 16-25 year old in England to join Fashion Favours – a unique fashion collection being created by volunteers purely from recycled and customised clothing.

Another example of out police state

I'm veering a lot from 'Design and marketing' lately, but I'm seeing a lot of practices that I'm disagreeing with. The City of London Council is waking up homeless people, then soaking the area where they were sleeping with water so they cannot sleep there. Now part of the story does indicate that they are offering them help as well, but surely it doesn't have to be in such a barbaric, frankly humilating way. These are people after all and deserve to be treated with respect.

Parcel Force customer service is terrible

A rant. Trying to get a parcel redelivered. The form on the website doesn't have enough space to enter the address. The phone line is automated and I was on hold for ten minutes. I emailed the customer services and got this reply:

Dear Lee Washington

Thank you for your enquiry.

To have your parcel redelivered, you can either arrange this online at www.parcelforce.com, or contact one of our agents on 08708 501150, who will be happy to help you.

As the turnaround time for emails is 24-36 hours, this is the quickest method of arranging a redelivery.

I have listed below some further information on redeliveries you need to be aware of:

• For inland parcels, a redelivery to an alternative address may incur an additional charge of £5.50.
• Parcels that are large, bulky or in excess of 15kg may be refused by the Post Office.
• Requests for Saturday deliveries will incur a charge of £12.00.
• Redeliveries to a local Post Office for inland parcels will require a £1.00 payment to the Post Office Clerk.
You must take two forms of ID with you when collecting your parcel, one of which must be photo ID if the
"Sorry we missed you" card is not available. We recommend that all items redelivered to Post Offices be
collected the day after the requested delivery date, due to delivery times.

Kind regards

Not very helpful. I'm going round in circles. All I want to do is speak to A HUMAN BEING! Is that so hard.

CCTV

I dislike CCTV. It is an invasion if privacy. It is ugly. It is unnerving. If they were watch towers would we, as a society, be more against them?

Lloyds/Halifax T shirt

Add the latest T shirt to the website this morning. The Lloyds Halifax T shirt

What a week!

A lot of what I do is a lot of hard work without reaping any benefits - the most soul destroying thing for any illustrator/designer is the feeling of getting nowhere. This week has been very different - I've been working at my stuff for three years now and things are really starting to come together - like all the hard work is paying off.

The gallery launched last night and it was a great night of music from Underdog records:

Then today, Facebook T shirts are in City AM again, and I'm in the process of talking to a highstreet retailer about the venture.

To top it off, I have another show in Angel tomorrow!

Lloyds/Halifax new logo?

Thought I'd have a bit of fun and design a new logo for the Halifax Lloyds merger/takeover. The horse pulls the clapped out cart:

One Man Band

I have one day a week off of my usual jobs to work on self initiated projects and the small businesses that I run - this day can be used for anything from taking prints to customers, picking up new T shirts to designing new products. Lately it has mostly been used for setting up the gallery space which opens on Thursday. Today it was a bit more mundane - sorting out tax and bank accounts. However, I did have the afternoon to work on a desk that I want to get laser cut for my room and a new logo for my T shirts.

The background is that Facebook T shirts as a name has a few downsides - the main one being that at any moment Facebook could come along and shut me down for using their name. Another being that the designs are moving away from Facebook with designs such as the credit crunch t shirt and in the future I want them to be even more experimental. I have already tried laser cutting T shirts with interesting results (they disintegrated on the first wash!) but there is definitely potential there. Anyhow I digress. I'm on my own doing this...and therefore I present my T shirt label....One Man Band

Any feedback greatly appreciated!

Shop taking shape

Very much a work in progress, the shop/gallery space is really taking shape now with all of the prints up, the next step is to create some vinyl printing for the windows. The launch of the record label, Underdog Records, is on Thursday when over 100 people will be visiting.

End of the world

So CERN gets switched on on Wednesday - possibly one of the most important events on this decade as the implications of what they learn could be far reaching. Or it could create a black hole that ends the world. Think of that when you're at your desk at work on Tuesday - this could be the last day of my life. It probably won't be though.

I came across this clip of an asteroid impact, great for the Pink Floyd soundtrack:

Best PR stunt ever

How do you promote a game that is set in a world where petrol is running out? The game is called World in Flames and contains scenes of anarchy. Any ideas? How about giving away £20k of free petrol during the rush our in one of London's more, er, let's say not so well off areas:

Woman in LA laser etching

I did my first test this week of laser etching the glass of a frame with an image. I decided to choose woman in LA because there's a lot of lines that make up the scene. It turned out really well and I'm pleased with it.

Seems familiar?
