test run of bollard light

While the news of MJ's death was hitting the world, we were out doing a test run of the bollard sticker - we applied this part printed version to see how it would look. Overall a success with a bit of refinement needed - namely that I don't make such as pigs ear of sticking it down.

Here's the completed graphic that I'm hoping to print this afternoon

Light Lane

My final year project is going to be looking into ways of encouraging more people to cycle in London. Whilst researching I came across this nice concept called Light Lane

22GL Zombie Apocalypse party

Last week me and my housemates threw the end of year party with a zombie theme. The house was quarantined. The neighbours were wondering what the hell was going on. And we partied until the sun came up.

Folding plug

A nice example of how beautifully simple ideas are successful - this project has identified a need and provided a solution. This to me is what product design is all about. It's a nice a example of how putting projects online is a way of gaining attention - this video has had fifty thousand views which is a lot more that who would have seen this at her degree show.

Chemical Brothers video

One of my favourite music videos has to be Michel Gondry's for Chemical Brother's Star Guitar. I remember watching this video at first and thinking it was kinda boring - it's just looking out of a train window. Then you realise that each thing going by is perfectly timed to the music, chimney stacks rise and fall on the horizon with the notes in the music, and each object refers to a beat or instrument. Truly inspiring.

Design Wright

I've started a two week placement with the Design Wright, a small design agency that do kitchen ware. Really enjoying it and it's great to be in a studio. Unfortunately I can't tell you what I'm working on as it's confidential but it's a really interesting project.

printer's studio

I visited the Yannick who prints my canvas prints at his studio this week - I'd gone over to pick up my latest one to deliver to One Deko. It was quite a fun trip, I had to take a small boat across the river Thames from the millenium dome - the view from his studio back across the river was pretty sweet:

and the studios themselves were really interested - all constructed from disused containers stacked on top of each other - a really creative hub:

coaster coaster

Not sure where the idea came from, I was just doing some work and thought it would be funny. Here's the first sketch

and the final laser engraved coaster. At first you cannot see the image but on closer inspection you see that it contains a rollar coaster. It is a coaster coaster.

This will be one of those ideas that doesn't go into production...just for fun.

Prince's Rainforest Project

College has now basically finished for the summer and this week I returned to Cake working on the Prince's Rainforest Project. Really nice animated video that gets across the message:
